TORONTO, July 2, 2014 /CNW/ - In a vote Wednesday, unionized employees at The Globe and Mail rejected the company's final offer for a contract settlement by a vote of 274 to 23 (92.3%).
Although the union is in a legal strike position, further discussions between the union and the company are scheduled for July 8. In the meantime, unionized journalists, ad reps and administrative staff will continue to work.
The Globe's unionized staff is represented by Unifor, Canada's largest private-sector union with more than 300,000 members across every major sector in the economy.
