WASHINGTON, June 9, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Representative John Dingell, the longest-serving member of Congress in U.S. history, will give a speech titled "When Congress Worked" at a National Press Club Speakers luncheon on June 27.
Dingell announced he will retire at the end of his current term, having been a member of the U.S. House for 58 years, serving alongside 11 presidents. The Michigan Democrat served as chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and helped pass legislation including Medicare, the Clean Air Act and the Endangered Species Act.
The Press Club luncheon will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m. Remarks will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session, ending at 2 p.m. Tickets may be purchased by clicking here. The cost of luncheon admission is $22 for National Press Club members and $36 non-members. Tickets must be purchased at time of reservation.
