Best College Reviews' list could be ideal for students who might have their minds on warmer alternatives after the exceptionally cold winter of 2013-2014

GRANDVILLE, Miss., June 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Best College Reviews, a ranking service for American colleges and universities, has released a list of the 25 colleges with the best weather in the United States. Data from the National Weather Service on average temperature and days without cloud cover were used to create the ranking. Attention was also paid to available warm weather campus outdoor activities. The ranking can be viewed here:

Weather may be an afterthought for many potential students, but it's on the minds of many after a brutal 2013-2014 winter. Sunny days certainly aren't as important as academic quality, but in the case of two colleges or universities holding equal weight in the eyes of a potential student, they certainly can serve as a tiebreaker.

James Arney, the article's author, said this about the list: "Higher education is stressful enough, especially in today's expensive educational environment, that one could argue students may get more bang for their buck in a relaxing climate. The trend lately in higher education has been to pamper undergraduates with lavish dorms and recreation centers, but these 25 schools all boast amazing weather, which is something colleges either have or they don't. No amount of money can buy a frigid northeastern campus or a Malibu climate like Pepperdine's."

The list of 25 schools includes (in alphabetical order):

Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ
Brigham Young University - Hawaii, Laie, HI
Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, FL
Florida International University, University Park, FL
Georgia Southern University, Statesboro, GA
