3L Diamond, helping to harness the performance of power-efficient TMS320C6678 DSPs from Texas Instruments

EDINBURGH, Scotland, Feb. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- 3L Ltd, the only provider of multicore tools with decades of exclusive focus on simplifying multiprocessing, today announced availability of its 3L Diamond tool suite for use with the Advantech DSPC-8682 and DSPC-8681 DSP boards.

Under continuous evolution since 1987, 3L Diamond automatically handles the interconnection management and other housekeeping chores when tasks are moved to different cores or devices. Engineers are free to focus on the application instead of the irritating minutiae of the connectivity. This freedom helps maximise the benefits from  Texas Instruments' (TI's) TMS320C6678 multicore DSPs, based on the KeyStoneTM architecture. The Advantech DSPC-8681 and DSPC-8682 are built upon four and eight multicore C6678 DSP devices from TI respectively, with high-speed inter-DSP communications and high-bandwidth interconnection to the host. The DSPC-8681 is half-length PCI Express card with PCIe Gen2 x8 interface and the DSPC-8682 is full-length with PCIe Gen3 x8 interface to the edge connector.

The Advantech DSPC-8681 and DSPC-8682 are the latest of many pre-installed hardware platforms supported within 3L Diamond. Each licence includes access to all supported devices and boards. Copious royalty-free examples and tutorials demonstrate the creation and simple movement of tasks around available hardware.
