D/FW metroplex mayors' 3-point shootout competition in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters and H.O.P.E. Farm, Inc.
LAS COLINAS, Texas, Jan. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- On January 21, 2014 Mayor Beth Van Duyne of Irving, TX will compete against Mayor Mike Rawlings of Dallas, TX in round one of a 3-point basketball shootout challenge in support of the upcoming Little Big Shot D/FW area fund raising tournament benefiting H.O.P.E. Farm of Fort Worth and the D/FW area Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. Round one of the mayor's competition will take place at Moody Coliseum on SMU's campus located at 3009 Binkley Avenue, Dallas, TX, beginning at 3:30pm.
The mayors' final scores will be held up against the scores of the round two competitors, Mayor Betsy Price of Ft. Worth, TX, and Mayor Dr. Robert Cluck of Arlington, TX. Each mayor is paired with university athletes and community volunteers from their respective cities. University of Dallas, SMU, TCU, and UTA are the participating schools. All four mayors have endorsed the metroplex business challenge, encouraging businesses to join the friendly competition and pledge support of the Little Big Shot tournament through sponsorships of community and corporate teams. "This is a great platform for local businesses to engage in a worthy cause." Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings said. "Businesses have the opportunity to support their communities, and most importantly, the youth benefiting from this event."
Along with honoring the top business contributors from each city, the Mayor's Little Big Shot 3-Point Shootout Trophy - currently belonging to the city of Ft. Worth - will be presented at an awards ceremony during the Little Big Shot's "Jocks and Jerseys" Gala on March 16, 2014 at H.O.P.E. Farm and travel back to the winning city's mayor's office.
About Little Big Shot - Little Big Shot is a private foundation, hosting competitive basketball shootout fund raisers. All proceeds from the events benefit children's advocacy groups serving at-risk children. The Dallas/Ft. Worth Little Big Shot 3-point Shootout Competition benefiting H.O.P.E. Farm of Fort Worth and the D/FW area Big Brothers Big Sisters organization is slated for March 22, 2014 at the TCU Campus in Ft. Worth, TX.
