Catching Up With Paula Abdul

From MyFox National Reports

(MYFOX NATIONAL) - Now that she's left "American Idol," Paula Abdul is launching a whole new chapter in her career.

"I've got one, two...six things that I'm working on," Abdul said. "Very exciting and time-consuming and jet-lagging and everything. It's great."

"Idol" won't be the same without her, but Abdul is excited to see how Ellen DeGeneres changes the dynamic.

"I think it's going to be fantastic. You know, she is remarkable at what she does and it's just going to be different," she said. "It's a show that's unstoppable and she's going to add a different dimension. I feel for anyone that comes on as a new person to a show that exists as a dysfunctional, fun family."

Looking back on her eight years on the "Idol" stage, Abdul said she wouldn't change a thing.

"There are too many great memories," she said. "I feel tremendously blessed to be a part of history-making with that show and the fact that I was so there for the contestants."

Despite her departure, Abdul thinks that she'll be seeing a lot of her old friends in the coming months. "Oddly enough I think that I will see them more ... Socializing, because, you know, work is like you get in and get out, and you don't want to see each other ... there were times when we would do weekend things. I've talked to Simon, he misses me and I know it. I talk to him a lot."
