Couple Facing Animal Cruelty Charges

A Schuylkill County couple is facing animal cruelty charges after police say a puppy in their care wound up in a dumpster. The dog’s original owners saw the news story and gave the police the information they needed to track down the couple. Police say the dog was dumped in a trash can outside the Mahanoy City school. Gun Pulled On Volunteers At Meal Center

Police in Wilkes Barre say a man pulled a gun over a disagreement over mashed potatoes. Officers say it happened in the parking lot at Saint Vincent de Paul Kitchen as staff members were serving lunch. Police say that a man wanted a second serving of mashed potatoes, but was told to wait until everyone had been served. They say the man ate, went to the parking lot, then pulled a gun on workers. Pittston Police Chief Speaks Out Over Termination

The former Pittston Township police chief says he is the victim of small town politics. Robert Avvisato says “If you don’t play by their rules, and you’re not going to do as they want, whether legal or not they will get rid of you.” He claims he was fired because he would not be a “yes man” for supervisors. Those supervisors say Avvisato created a hostile work environment. More>>

Pedestrian Struck By Car

A woman is in the hospital after being struck by a car in downtown Scranton. The woman is in critical condition after the wreck that happened around 4:30PM. It happened at the intersection of Lackawanna and Wyoming Avenues near the Mall at Steamtown. It is still unknown if the driver of the car will face any criminal charges. More>>

Homicide Arrest

Police in Columbia County have made an arrest in a 2 year old murder case. Police filed charges against Maria Sanutti-Spencer and Anthony Franklin in connection of the murder of Spencer’s ex-husband. Court papers say that Frank and Maria Spencer were going through a divorce and that Frank feared for his life. Police say Franklin shot Spencer execution style inside his own home. More>>

Deadly Shooting Arrest

Police arrested a man wanted for a deadly shooting in Lycoming County. Rahsan Williams was brought back to Pennsylvania from North Carolina. On June 1st police say that Williams got into an argument and shot a man outside Lamp House Hookah Lounge; the man later died. Police say Williams took off and left the state after the shooting.
