Combating West Nile Virus

There have been 2 confirmed cases of the West Nile Virus in Lycoming County so far this summer. Officials are now trying to stop the threat of that potentially deadly virus from spreading. The state is loading up trucks and bringing out heavy equipment after samples showed signs of the virus. The DEP is using truck and even ATVs to get spray close to target areas. More>>

Death Investigation

A person was found dead in a hotel pool in Monroe County, and it appears to be an accident according to the coroner. The drowning happened at about 4:00PM at the Smithfield Township Days Inn. The 22 year old was from Brooklyn New York and was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner has an autopsy scheduled to find the official cause of death. More>>

Speed Limits Increasing

Speed Limits Increasing

The speed limit has been raised to 70 miles per hour on some Pennsylvania Roads. The speed limit was increased on nearly 100 miles of the Turnpike from Blue Mountain to Morgantown. Also, starting next month, a pilot program will bring an increased speed limit to parts on Interstate 80 in Central Pennsylvania, and Interstate 380 in the North Pocono area. More>>

Contractor Arrested

A contractor in Lackawanna County is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from his clients. 34 year old Joseph Senese of Taylor was arrested and charged. The Lackawanna District Attorney says that Senese took money and never completed the job. They also say that there are more than 8 victims over 60 years old with total thefts of over 14 thousand dollars. More>>

Fiery Crash Closes Bridge

A woman is in the hospital after a fiery crash in Lackawanna County. A car and tractor trailer collided along Davis Street Bridge around 8:30PM. Fuel spilled from the ruptured tanks of the semi and ignited. The bridge was closed in both directions while crews worked to clean up the scene. The is still no word on the woman’s name or condition. Woman Impaled On Fence

Woman Impaled On Fence

First responders were at the scene of a gruesome rescue. A woman was impaled on a fence at a cemetery in Hazleton near Diamond Avenue. An iron spoke of the fence pierced the woman’s leg. Medics were forced to saw off parts of the fence so that the woman could be flown to the hospital. The extent of her injuries is still not known. More>>
